Who can benefit from Feldenkrais? I'd say everyone, but of course, that’s my bias :-)
- If you’re already a ‘mover’ you’ll love the nuance and new discoveries in how subtle details can make a big difference in how movement connects throughout your system. Bringing your attention to the details of how you do something can be applied to improving any skill/ sport you already practice.
- If you don’t consider yourself ‘sporty’ Feldenkrais is a uniquely gentle mode for discovering the joys of moving without breaking into a sweat or needing aerobic conditioning. We’re all about taking it easy, with lots of rests. You’ll experience a new version of how free your body can feel.
- When there is a lot of stress in your life, it’s important to find a way to unwind. Feldenkrais is incredibly calming for your nervous system. Shifting the patterning associated with your stress response, allows you to function from a more grounded and centred place. The benefits of meditation without sitting still!
- If you value your independence and having the tools you need to look after yourself then Feldenkrais is definitely a fit. ‘Getting old’ is the most common excuse people subscribe to. What if you could do something differently to take the load off, minimising wear and tear? When you realise aches and pains are a by-product of our habits; that improvement is possible at any age – that’s empowering. I have students in their sixties tell me that their body hasn’t felt this good since they were in their twenties!
- Pain and rehabilitation are often what brings people to seek out solutions. As Feldenkrais is so gentle and holistic, you’d be surprised at what can change from something so subtle. I thoroughly enjoy the process of finding ways of changing your current experience to getting you to where you want to end up.
Not sure whether it's for you? There's only one way to find out.....
Come and try it out to see what it has to offer you with a Functional Integration session or an Awareness Through Movement class.
