Are you utilising the mechanics of your whole body to your advantage?
Awareness Through Movement® classes develop your balance, co-ordination and sensory self awareness. They explore how movement connects through your whole body - how moving one area can be influence and be supported by another place in your body. We playfully investigate your movement habits/patterns, trying out a number of different ways of doing an action, to discover how a subtle change in how you do something can create a big difference in how easy and supported that movement feels. We are looking to find the support of your skeleton so your muscles aren’t doing more work than they need to - leaving them free to move. Quality movement can do more with less effort expended.
Feldenkrais has opened up a whole new world of the inner most workings of my body at the skeletal level.
It has led to my discovery of new ways of executing body movements in a more relaxed and fluid manner that can be transferred to my everyday pursuits and complements and enhances other physical pursuits such as sport or dance.
Its relaxed and meditative focus also helps to restore a sense of balance and emotional well being.
